EDvance and SF YouthWorks launch high school summer internship program
EDvance and SF YouthWorks collaborated to launch a new high school summer internship program that allows young people to gain paid work experience in a career exploration program through hands-on work in early childhood classrooms.
On June 18, EDvance and SF YouthWorks held the first day of training for the high school student interns. The interns engaged in team-building activities and reflections of how young children think and learn, and also expressed their educational goals and excitement about exploring careers in early education. Fifteen high school students are serving in the following preschools this summer: Felton’s Martin Luther King Center, Felton’s Family Development Center, Kai Ming – St. Luke’s and Compass Children’s Center.
EDvance would like to thank the Office of Early Care and Education for its commitment and support, and for attending the first day of the summer program. In addition, EDvance thanks the program's newest funder, the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, for supporting the summer high school internship.
