• Adolescent development

• Program development in the area of adolescent health promotion

• Needs assessment and evaluation related to programs designed to promote health and well-being

Research interests: 

• Adolescent sexual health, substance use, teen pregnancy prevention, demography of adolescence

Service interests:

• Three years of service on the Board of Directors for Children’s Dental Services, a non-profit organization in Minneapolis, MN that provides low cost dental care for children and pregnant women (President for 1 year)

•  Elected National Council on Family Relations’ Research and Theory section officer (4 years)
